
Elbert County Central Communications is the centralized Public Safety Answering Point for Elbert County.
The Communications Officers staffing the Center must complete the POST Basic Communications Officer Course.
The center answers all 911 calls and dispatches Elbert County Fire, EMS and Sheriffs Department as well as City of Elberton Fire and Police Department.
In 2005, Central Communications answered 49,903 calls with 47% of those being from Wireless Phones. The Center Dispatched 22,204 calls and handled an additional 26,052 requests received by radio by agencies. This in turn generated over 58,000 computer log entries.
